Heritage Centre Funding

Bromley Councillors have pledged £40,000 to help open a Heritage Centre in Biggin Hill, pooled with money donated by the Club to be spent on fundraising  activities and design work on the proposed centre. The centre is intended to house exhibitions displays and artefacts to remember the important role Biggin Hill has played.

Chairman of the Biggin Hill Trust Dennis Barkway was reported saying  "We are focused on generating the funding and making sure that Biggin  Hill and the roll it  has played is  never forgotten."

Fund Raiser has now been found. The Biggin Hill Battle of Britain Trust engaged the services of consultants Jane Kaufmann Associates (JKA) to advertise for a professional fund raiser to head the charge to raise the remainder of the money required to build out the project. This fund raiser has now been found and has recently taken up the post. He will stay until the project is completed which he is confident will be in two years.

The Mayor of Bromley, Cllr David McBride began his mayoral year in May and has nominated the Heritage Centre as his charity for this year and is planning a very active fund raising campaign on behalf of the Trust. He will encourage various sports clubs to organise competitions and fund raisers, as well as having his staff arrange some functions. A charity dinner at the RAF Club is being arranged for October and an ABBA tribute night is set to go ahead in November at the police sports club, the Warren in Hayes.
