To The Biggin Hill Battle of Britain Supporters'
Club Website. A site we hope you will find
informative and interesting keeping
you up to
date on the progress of events towards establishing
an appropriate Heritage Centre here at Biggin Hill, to celebrate
the achievement and acknowledge the debt to all those who
served during WW2.
Since the RAF withdrew from Biggin Hill in 1992, it has been the aim of Bromley Council, as well as several local groups, to provide a reminder of this historic site. The story will cover not only the vital period in 1940, when the fighters of the RAF stood in the front line, but also the complete history of the airfield, from 1916, when Bristol Fighters and wireless telegraphy played a major roll in the defence of London.
The objectives of the Supporter's Club are to bring together like-minded people who want to see an appropriate Heritage Centre established at Biggin Hill. From the 'Events Section' you will see that we have completed several trips and had seminars this year.
Over and above these functions our core objective is to raise funds to help support thecentre when it opens and to obtain artifacts for it where funds allow. Members may also want to give their time on a voluntary basis to actually man the centre and to act as guides; in fact anything and everything that will see this worthwhile project come to fruition and to help sustain it.
